MWR's Dining Room Receives Award of Excellence | Distinguished Restaurants of North America Awards Resort More-than-Perfect Score

The Dining Room at Mount Washington Resort recently received an overall score of 102% during an inspection by Distinguished Restaurants of North America (DiRoNA), an acclaimed non-profit organization which recognizes excellence in the food and beverage industry. The DiRoNA Quality Assurance Program is the only independent and anonymous restaurant inspection program in North America, and conducts impartial evaluations based on an extensive list of criteria.

DiRoNA inspectors assess each restaurant’s physical property, environment, décor, cleanliness, quality of food and beverage, service and accuracy during evaluations. Each of these scores contributes to an overall score, which must be above 90 percent in order to remain eligible for DiRoNA membership. Mount Washington Resort’s Dining Room, which was completely refurbished in May 2007, received 111% in the quality of cuisine category.

Located within The Mount Washington Hotel, The Dining Room boasts an innovative approach to classic New England-style cuisine. Guests can delight in seasonal and regional specialties such as Shallot and Rosemary Seared Duck Breast with Maple Shitake Bread Pudding, Broccolinni, Roasted Carrots and Vanilla Bourbon Gastrique. In addition, those who wish to receive a personalized dining experience can make reservations for a unique Golden Sash Dinner, where the Resort’s award-winning culinary team works with guests to create and execute a menu of their choice. These five- or seven-course dinners, paired with carefully chosen wines designed to complement each dish, provide for a one-of-a-kind dining experience and a very special evening.

Mount Washington Resort’s culinary tradition also includes hosting special annual events that celebrate family gatherings and sumptuous options including: Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday, May 10, 2009; the Annual Fall Food and Wine Festival on the weekend of November 6-8, 2009; a Thanksgiving Feast Buffet on Thursday, November 26, 2009; the New Year’s Gala Dinner on Thursday, December 31, 2009; “Future Chefs” Weekend in early January; and a family favorite, Easter Sunday Brunch.
